The Cobb Angels began in 2008
as a league created team. The first season was one of getting to know one
another and forming the relationships that are essential to creating a winning
team. 2008 saw the Cobb Angels walk away with 1 win. Much like other
expansion teams do after their first season, the Cobb Angels went to work.
Fall of 2008 opened the doors for the Cobb Angels
first ever draft opportunity. They welcomed in three outstanding players
that helped the Angels do better in the Fall Season and would carry over into
Spring of 2009.
The 2009 Spring season was met with lots of
optimism and a can-do attitude. The Angels won their first game 21-3 and
things were looking up. The Angels would go on to win 2 more games that
season, but that is misleading. They were on the downside of 8 games
decided by 2 runs or less. In fact, in their next to last regular season
game, the Angels nearly upset the League Champion Sidewinders.
Nevertheless, the team was disappointed with the results.
Fall of 2009 brought some new faces to the
Angels. These new additions came at positions where they were of dire need
of some help. The Angels went 5-3 in their Fall Season. Making the
playoffs for the first time and winning their first ever playoff game versus the
Muckdogs made this a season to remember. Fall 2009 was definitely a
stepping stone to where this team is going.
Spring 2010 was a season of missed opportunities.
The Angels dropped 8 games by 5 or less runs, and 5 of those by 3 or less.
The team will be looking to add some pop going into Fall 2010.
Fall 2010 added over 8 new faces to the Cobb
Angels. Most of which are in key positions! The Angels went 6-3 and
made it to the Semi-Final of the League Playoffs, finishing 3rd overall.
Spring 2011 brought the Cobb Angels their first
regular season playoff birth. In a closely contested, and very
controversial finish, the Halos fell to the eventual league champion, Outlaws.
2012 looked like a year of promise, as the Angels have added some much needed
power hitting and have made improvements defensively. With this in mind,
the Angels themed their 2012 season with: No Mercy. Terrorizing
Central League pitching in the first 6 games. However, injuries and untimely departures did this group in, finishing the season 10-8. They would fall to the eventual Runner-Up, the Tarheels, in the first round of the playoffs.
Coming into 2013, the Angels addressed their biggest weakness, pitching depth. Adding two quality arms and a few more bats, the Angels are poised to make a run at the Central League Championship. Your Time is Up! Our Time is NOW!
